A new class has been added to the programme for TT 2012.
Supertwins will race over three laps of the mountain course on the morning of Friday, June 8, ahead of the blue riband Senior TT.
It will be known as the Lightweight TT, with a prize fund of over £25,000 and the winner will receive a trophy which was last presented to Chris Palmer in 2004.
TT and motorsport development manager Paul Phillips says the 650cc twin cyclinder four-stroke machines will bring a new sight and sound to the meeting, as well as providing a cheaper form of racing for competitors (listen to audio file below):
The rest of the race programme at TT 2012 remains the same. The first Saturday practice session, which was dropped this year, will return, but will be for newcomers, lightweight and sidecars only.
