Karen Faragher is Island number one again.
She retained the Island singles women’s tennis title, winning the honour for an impressive 16th time by defeating Katie Tinkler 6/2, 6/3 in Saturday’s final.
She was pushed hard with Tinkler saving six match points in the match on the indoor court at Albany Tennis Club.
But there was no denying Faragher yet another success.
Lucy Hamilton-Turner had earlier defeated Laura Feely 6/3, 6/1 in the 3rd/4th place play-off.
In the men's doubles semi-final, Marc and Ryan Chinn beat Alistair Montgomerie and Peter Dunworth 6/1, 7/5 and will meet Richard Kerr and Colin Brown in Sunday’s final.
Play on Sunday will start with the consolation women’s between Sarah Breed and Elena Snidal before, in the highlight of the day, Ryan Chinn and Jamie Teare meet in the men’s singles final.
The tournament will conclude with the mixed doubles final between Ryan Chinn and Snidal against Teare and Hamilton-Turner.
