13-year-old awarded for contribution to sport on and off court
Despite the pandemic, the annual Albany Tennis Junior Silver Award for 2020 has been decided and Ava Austerberry has been crowned winner.
The trophy is the junior version of the WK Dale trophy, each are awarded for the recipients’ contribution to Albany tennis on and off court.
Thirteen-year-old Ava has played in the league teams and junior and senior
competitions, showing multiple strong performances.
On Saturdays, she also assists the coaches with the club’s Mini tennis programme and is always helpful and pleasant at the club’s activities, securing her the Junior Silver award trophy.
Ava takes over from 2019 winner Aailish Kelly with both girls presentations being delayed because of lockdown.
