Former Island player targeting another grand slam journey
Isle of Man pro tennis player Billy Harris has taken victory in the opening qualifying round for this year's US Open.
Last night (20 August) saw him beat Argentinian competitor Juan Manuel Cerundolo in three sets (6-3, 2-6, 7-5).
As a result, the 29-year-old former Albany Lawn and Castletown Lawn player will face Murkel Dellien of Bolivia in the second qualifying phase today (21 August).
It'll be held on Court 10 at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center at a time to be confirmed.
Harris is currently at a career-highest ATP ranking of 104th - should he progress all the way to the main men's singles draw of the 'grand slam', that would begin next Monday (26 August).
