GB squad lose out to Greece in final group stage contest
Former Isle of Man tennis star, Billy Harris has suffered defeat in his second match for Great Britain at this year's United Cup.
The former Albany and Castletown player was beaten in three sets by Greece's Stefanos Tsitsipas (6-4, 1-6, 6-7) in Perth, Australia yesterday (5 January).
More generally, that result was part of a 2-1 win for Greece over Great Britain in the final Group E match of this year's series.
The other results saw GB's Emma Raducanu lose out in three sets to Maria Sakkari (6-3, 3-6, 6-1) whilst the British pairing of Neal Skupski and Olivia Nicholls were victorious in the mixed doubles against Despina Papamichail and Stefanos Skallaridis (602, 3-6, 10-4).
Following the conclusion of the group phase, Great Britain finished second in Group E, meaning they won't progress to the knockouts.
Earlier in the event, Harris did take a straight-sets win (7-6, 6-3) against Shintaro Mochizuki of Japan on Saturday, 3 January.
