Former Island player suffers straight sets defeat
Former Isle of Man tennis competitor, Billy Harris has been knocked out of the qualifiers for this year's Chengdu Open.
He suffered a straight sets defeat (7-5, 6-4) to Japan's Taro Daniel in the men's singles second qualifying phase in the early hours of this morning (17 September).
This result comes after Harris had taken victory over Chinese wildcard, Fumin Jiang in the previous stage.
Despite this outcome, it's been a strong month so far for the former Albany and Castletown player.
He took his first ATP Challenger title earlier this month after winning the Cassis Open Provence in France and also reached the semi-finals of the Guangzhou Huangpu International Tennis Open last week.
