Manxman loses out in straight sets to Medjedovic
Island-born tennis player Billy Harris has just missed out on qualifying for the main Wimbledon draw this year after defeat in straight sets to Hamad Medjedovic in Roehampton this afternoon (29 June).
Having won his previous two matches, Harris came up against Serbian Medjedovic on Roehampton Stadium Court with today being a longer best-of-five set contest.
In a close first set Medjedovic had the edge taking it 6-4, before an even tighter second set followed going to a tie-break between the pair, with Harris narrowly missing out 7-6 (8-6).
With Harris having a mountain to climb in set three, Medjedovic continued the relentless pace despite Harris' best efforts, with the Serbian eventually sealing the contest with a 6-4 third set victory to progress.
Having earned a qualifying wildcard for this year's Wimbledon event, Harris had taken impressive victories against Alexander Ritschard and Hugo Gaston of France earlier this week in the lead-up to today's game.
