Aussie rider Brookes wins Senior Classic
With Michael Rutter, Ian Lougher and Dean Harrison retiring in the first few miles and then Michael Dunlop going out in the pits at the end of lap one, it was Aussie Josh Brookes who took command of the Classic Senior in the early stages, building a lead of over 30 seconds going into lap two, ahead of Jamie Coward and Maria Costello.
With different pit strategies it was going to be all down to the last lap.
William Dunlop took third as Costello pitted.
A lengthy pit for Brookes dropped his lead over Coward to less than a second at Glen Helen on the last lap but by Ramsey it was back up to 14 seconds.
Ultimately, Brookes on the Paton, won by 34 seconds from Coward and Dunlop with Costello fourth.
