Melvyn Evans and Patrick Walsh have won the 2011 Manx Telecom Rally.
It’s the Welshman’s third triumph following success in 2002 and 2008.
In the end it was an emphatic victory as the pair finished three minutes and 46 seconds ahead of Nigel and Michaela Cannell.
They in turn were 27 seconds clear of Andrew Leece and Graham Fargher with George Collister and Janet Craine completing a good day for the local crews with a fourth place finish.
Paul Bird, seeking a third successive title, and co-driver Kirsty Riddick had led after Friday night’s opening five stages but their hopes were dashed when they slid off on stage seven.
Evans was thrilled after his third title and admitted it was a ‘rally of attrition’.
