However, there was disappointment for Manx cycling superstar Mark Cavendish and double gold medalist Bradley Wiggins in the Olympic Madison race in Beijing.
The World Champions finished in nineth place as Argentina took gold.
Many venues around the island opened their doors early to allow fans to view the cycling.
Team Isle of Man Cycling coach Mike Doyle joined regulars at the Shore Hotel in Cav's home village of Laxey.
