Colby see off Gymns for third successive week
Lightning doesn’t just strike twice – it can hit three times!
Just ask Gymns after they were beaten by Colby for the third successive week, in the third different competition, by exactly the same scoreline!
A third successive 2-1 defeat, this time in the GH Corlett Woods Cup, booked the southerners’ place in the quarter-finals.
Yet again James Collett was the Gymns nemesis with the extra-time winner – he has scored in all three of Colby’s triumphs.
Steve Kelly had given the home side the lead in normal time before the Tromode side equalised.
Douglas & District secured their first Woods Cup win for 12 years!
Second half goals from skipper Richard Brant and Luke Callister against his former club sealed a 2-0 home win over Malew.
Onchan put five past Governors Athletic without reply.
And it was two young talents who helped them on their way.
16 year-old Kieran Brown gave the hosts a fifth minute lead and they never looked back with further goals from David Rees, Jacob Jones, Ben Kelly and another 16 year-old Nick Harvey booking their berth in the last eight.
