In a splendid day’s cricket in the Standard Bank Premiership yesterday, there were wins for the top three sides, centuries from Jaco Jansen and Mike Hebden, plus a 95 not out from Max Stokoe and a six wicket haul for Ollie Webster.
Valkyres posted a solid 217-9 at Tromode with skipper Ali Ansari leading the way with 56.
However Cronkbourne openers Mike Hebden and Max Stokoe were in great form and knocked off the runs without losing a wicket.
Mike hit 102 and Max fell just short of a century with 95.
Crosby were in a good position at 62-2 against Ramsey, but then crashed to the bowling of Ollie Webster.
The northern skipper had a great spell of six wickets for 15 runs from ten overs.
The Marown team were dismissed for 104 and Ramsey got the runs for the loss of five wickets.
Rob Webber cracked 31 and Dave Picken took 3-22.
Jaco Jansen had a marvellous match for St John's.
First he scored a superb 115 as the Saints made 253-7 against Castletown.
Jaco shared a stand of 180 with Greg Hawke, who hit 71.
The Town then faced a fiery St John's attack and were bowled out for 121 despite a fine 54 from Travis Friend.
Akkie van der Berg claimed 4-47 and that man Jansen rounded off a great day with 3-27.
