Island athlete bound for Vancouver this weekend (13-15 Jun)

Isle of Man triathlete Will Draper has received a wildcard for the latest event on the T100 Triathlon World Tour this weekend.

The Manxman is set to contest the Vancouver T100 Triathlon from tomorrow until Sunday (13-15 June).

Featuring some of the world's best long-distance athletes, Draper and his fellow competitors will take on a 2km swim followed by a 80km cycling route and concluding with an 18km run.

The series itself features 40 top long-distance participants - 20 male and 20 female - all vying for the chance to become T100 Triathlon World Champion and earn a share of the $9million on offer.

On top of that, wildcards such as Draper take part in each stage and are 'chosen by exceptional recent performances, top athletes coming back from injury or maternity or more Olympians stepping up in distance.'

Separately later this month, Draper is also due to represent Great Britain at the Elite World Triathlon Long Distance Championships in Pontevedra, Spain on 28-29 June.
