Manx duo claim another rampant win in two-lap showdown

Isle of Man brothers Ryan and Callum Crowe have taken their fourth success three-wheeled victory at the TT with a dominant display in today's Sidecar TT Race 2 (6 June).

As they did in the first race four days previous, the local duo stormed to victory by over a minute ahead of Ben Birchall & Patrick Rosney in second.

Completing an identical podium from the first race was Lee Crawford & Scott Hardie a further 23 seconds back in third.

As they did in their record-breaking performance in the first race earlier this week, the Crowe brothers surged into a 17.8 second lead at Ballaugh on lap one.

Meanwhile, the early suggestions were that the other two podium places would be subject to fierce competition - at Ballaugh almost nothing separated the pairings of Ben Birchall & Patrick Rosney in second and Lee Crawford & Scott Hardie in third whilst only 0.5 seconds back on that were Lewis Blackstock and Oscar Lawrence.

There was then change at Ramsey in the battle for third as Blackstock & Lawrence overhauled Crawford & Hardie into third but with only 0.2 seconds separating both outfits heading onto the mountain section.

Both crews swapped places again a sector later at the Bungalow with Crawford & Hardie back into third and with a 2.2-second advantage over Blackstock & Lawrence.

Out front, Ryan and Callum Crowe were continuing to asset their superiority - on their final run past the Grandstand onto lap two, their lead over Birchall & Rosney had grown yet again to marginally over 37 seconds.

In turn, Birchall & Rosney were holding a 6.6-second gap to Crawford & Hardie in behind who were still looking to hold off the advances of Blackstock & Lawrence just over two seconds further adrift.

The close-fought battle for third had shifted further in favour of Crawford & Hardie at Glen Helen early on the second lap as they extended their gap to Blackstock & Lawrence to 4.7 seconds.

However, all hopes of a final lap battle for that final podium position were extinguished when Blackstock & Lawrence's charge was halted as the duo came to a stop at Lambfell, promoting Todd Ellis and Emmanuelle Clement up into fourth.

Pushing close early in the second lap towards their 121mph record pace set a few days ago, the Crowe's seemingly began to ease off heading into the north of the Island and up to the mountain section such was their advantage out front in the latter stages.

By this stage they'd pulled out a 54-second gap to Birchall & Rosney who in turn were in control of their destiny in second with Crawford & Hardie a further 16.2 seconds back.

It was then with a certain inevitability that Jurby brothers Callum and Ryan - well clear of the rest of the field on the road - stormed to the chequered flag one minute and eight seconds ahead of their nearest challengers for their fourth successive TT win.
