Vagabonds lost out by the narrowest of margins in South Lancashire/Cheshire Division One as they went down 31-32 away at Bowden.
The game was all square 17-17 at half-time, with tries from Akkie van der Berg, Rob Martin and Ross McCulloch, plus a conversion from Jonny Beckley keeping them in touch.
In the second half, however, they were unable to cling on for the win.
