The curtain has come down on top flight rugby at Glencrutchery Road in the most dramatic fashion.
A last-gasp try and conversion earned Vagabonds a point at home to Hoylake to ensure their safety in South Lancashire/Cheshire Division One in their final match of the season and final ever match at Glencrutchery Road.
Ahead of their move to Ballafletcher next season, Vagabonds’ top flight status was under threat but a crucial try, converted by the reliable boot of Johnny Beckley, secured a 19-19 draw and Division One rugby next season.
Skipper Kevin Birchall said it was the perfect way to sign off.
There was double disappointment for promotion chasing Ramsey as they went down 27-21 at Prenton in South Lancashire/Cheshire Division Three.
Not only did the result harm their promotion hopes but the scoreline also doubled up to count as the semi-final result of the Cheshire Plate.
