Vince Karalius dies

A legendary rugby player, who settled in the Isle of Man after retiring, has died.

Vince Karalius started his professional career with St Helens in 1951, and played for Warrington, Widnes and England.

He was best-known in rugby circles as being one of the toughest forwards in the game, and earned the nickname “wild bull” by helping England beat Australia in 1958 despite a badly injured back.

After moving to the Island he maintained his passion for the sport by helping local youngsters train.

The 76 year-old died on Saturday.
