Footballer of the year inspires Peel win
Peel took the honours in the curtain raiser to the new Manx football season last night (Friday).
Two goals in six minutes early in the second half – from man of the match Lee Gale and Matty Woods – helped the westerners seal a 2-1 victory over the league champions.
Debutant Furo Davies pulled one back for the Geordies three minutes from time but the FA Cup holders held on.
