Manx Harriers Lauren Whelan finished a superb second in the English Athletics Under-20 World Junior Race Walking Trials at Bedford.
Conditions for the 5K race were poor with a very gusty wind making fast times almost impossible.
Lauren finished in a time of 28 minutes 1.40 seconds, less than 30 seconds behind the winner Rebecca Mersh from Sheffield.
She has only just moved up to the Under-17 age group and is three years younger than Mersh.
