Kimberly Dean discusses representaion & coverage of disability sports
How much do you know about para-sports?
Last month, Manx resident Kimberly Dean won a bronze medal for Team GB at the 2021 Para-Powerlifting World Cup in Manchester.
An incredible feat for any athlete and yet para sport still has a way to go before it's on a level playing field with non-para sport in terms of coverage, pay, and attitude.
Kim is not only an elite athlete, she's also a local physio; she has skeletal dysplasia, also known as dwarfism, and, in the long term, has her sights set on the Paris Paralympics in 2024.
In an extended interview, Kim had chatted to Rhian Evans about her career as a para athlete and gave her views on equality in the sporting world:
