Lee Johnston: "Thanks to everyone who saved my life."

Rider on 'long road to recovery' after NW200 crash

Injured motorcycle racer Lee Johnston has thanked those responsible for saving his life after a crash at the North West 200 earlier this month.

He was airlifted to hospital following an incident at Church corner which saw the supersport session red-flagged on 11 May.

In a post on social media, he says he is finally able to text, and has thanked the medical staff at the track and the Air Ambulance Northern Ireland.

Johnston was given a blood transfusion on a golf course before being flown to hospital. He'd suffered a broken femur and shoulder; a break in the foot and face; several broken ribs and a collapsed lung.

He says he's on a 'long road' to recovery, but without his family, friends, team and fans he'd be 'lost'.
