Motiv8 and police link 'burgeoning'
Alcohol linked reoffending is cut by almost 100% after referral to a charity, police have claimed.
Central Alcohol Unit leader Sergeant Wendy Barker believes the force's collaboration with Island group Motiv8 has been a successful one.
It was established in 2002 to minimise the negative effects of alcohol on communities, as well as to offer education on use of the substance, and enforce licensing legislation.
The charity provides offenders with qualified specialist counsellors - a service Sergeant Barker says is going strong:
Smile of Mann programme to start in primary schools next year
Loganair passengers yet to be reunited with bags left in Manchester on Sunday
Kirk Michael man taking on 31 marathons in 31 days in memory of friend
Government grant partially funded fishing vessel later used for smuggling
