Cathedral IOM celebrates appointment of first female Archbishop of Canterbury
Cathedral Isle of Man has called the election of the first woman as Archbishop of Canterbury a 'momentous day for the worldwide Anglican Communion'.
A former NHS chief nurse, Dame Sarah Mullally became a priest in 2006 and was appointed as the first female Bishop of London in 2018.
The Church has been without someone in the top job for almost a year after Justin Welby resigned over a safeguarding scandal.
The Very Reverend Nigel Godfrey MBE congratulated her on her appointment, adding she'll bring a 'wealth of experience and knowledge to this most challenging of offices'.
