ManxSPCA urges the public to give pups space and keep dogs on leads
The public are being asked to help keep newborn seals safe as pupping season gets underway.
The ManxSPCA is urging those on the Island's beaches over the coming months to watch out for pups, keep a minimum distance of 50 metres and ensure dogs are on leads if walking nearby.
Pups are born with white fur and stay on land for at least three weeks until they moult, while it's normal for their mothers to leave them alone for hours between feeds.
Under the Wildlife Act it is an offence to intentionally or recklessly disturb a seal and their pups.
