Airport warns passengers to expect disruption due to Storm Goretti

Isle of Man to 'miss the worst' as Guernsey declares major incident

Ronaldsway airport is warning passengers to expect some disruption due to Storm Goretti.

While the Isle of Man isn't expected to be heavily affected by the storm, it's anticipated that the impact on the UK - particularly in the south - could lead to some changes to the flight schedule.

This evening 'fierce winds' have been reported along the south-west coast of England, while the States of Guernsey have declared a major incident, advising residents on the Channel Island to stay indoors.

UK forecasters have described it as a "weather bomb", with inches of snow expected on the Midlands and parts of Wales this evening.

A record wind speed of 98 miles per hour has already been detected at St Mary's airport on the Isles of Scilly, according to Sky News.

Ronaldsway Met Office, meanwhile, says the Island should 'miss the worst'.

Isle of Man Airport says: 'With the potential for Storm Goretti to impact our destination airports, please visit www.airport.im or contact your airline directly to stay up to date with the latest information.

'Safety — ours and that of our airline partners — remains our top priority.'
