Five-strong squad to fly Manx flag in sport in Orkney this summer
The sport of archery provides a good balance between allowing athletes to compete internationally but also being accessible to people from all walks of life.
That's the view of one of the Isle of Man's archery team due to head to Orkney for the 2025 Island Games from 12-18 July.
After claiming six medals in the sport at the last games in Guernsey two years ago, the Isle of Man will be sending a smaller five-strong squad for this year's occasion.
Rhys Moore says they've noticed a slight increase in the amount of people taking up the sport locally:
Moore is one of four members of the team - along with Dave Moore, Ethan Moore and Aalin George - who have experience of the Island Games.
The fifth member, Andrew Westmoreland will be getting a taste of the occasion for the first time this year.
The medal count for the Isle of Man archery team last time out was made up of four silver and two bronze.
Three of those six were team medals which came in the Compound Head-to-Head; Mixed Compound Head-to-Head and Single WA 1440 Compound Team events.
Elsewhere, there were two individual medals for Rhys Moore in Guernsey as he secured silver in the Men's Compound Head-to-Head and bronze in the Single WA 1440 Men's Compound.
The other to earn individual honours was Aalin George with silver in Single WA 1440 Women's Compound.
