Local rider Jamie Williams wins Supersport MGP race

The first race of the 2025 Manx Grand Prix has now happened and it wasn't without it's fair share of drama.

Lewis Arrowsmith has been crowned champion of the Supertwin MGP Race. He was neck and neck with Michael Ghan right until the last lap when Gahan ended up having technical difficulties with his machine at Keppel Gate.

Heartbreak for Gahan but Toby Shan, who had been battling for 3rd place with Jamie Williams then ended up crossing the finish line in second with Williams taking third.

With a fastest lap time of 115.357, winner Lewis Arrowsmith was a man on a mission right from the beginning:

Second place Toby Shan (fastest lap 115.276) wasn't aware of the cat and mouse game he was in with Jamie Williams:

Meanwhile, Manx man Jamie Williams bagged a fastest lap time of 115.332 along with his first podium spot:

Disappointment for Michael Gahan who says he ran out of fuel on the last lap:

Next up was the Supersport MGP race and for the first 2 laps of the 4-lap race there was barely anything between the top 5.

It's been a great day for local rider Jamie Williams, after getting third in the Supertwin he secured his second podium spot of the first race day in the Supersport this time standing at the top.

He took the win with a fastest lap time of 120.524mph and was overcome with emotion at the end of the race:

There was emotion all around the top 3, a result of years of hard work paying off after multiple setbacks and injuries.

Caomhan Canny dug in deep and battled his way into second place narrowly missing out on the 120mph club with a lap time of 119.966mph. But the podium finish meant much more:

Ryan Whitehall fought his way to third place with a fastest lap time of 120.583, a result he was over the moon with:

Chris Cook narrowly missed out on the podium but still broke the 120mph barrier with a fastest lap time of 120.005mph, Michael Gahan also made it into the Tommy Club with a 120.664mph lap time.

Coming up, there'll be more Classic TT Qualifying at 3pm and 3:45pm.

Roads are due to reopen no later than 9pm.
