Iconic buildings protected from demolition
There was an 'avalanche of public support' to preserve an iconic building in the south of the Island, according to Geoffrey Boot.
The environment, food and agriculture minister confirmed this week the Cosy Nook was one of three sites granted registered status.
Commissioners in Port Erin last year voted to demolish the seaside cafe, however, this latest move means that will not be allowed to happen.
Mr Boot has rejected suggestions government has sought to interfere in the local authority's plans:
Sailings cancelled due to predicted gales
Have your say on the future of the Island's plantations
Warning for 'disorderly' parents attending schools
Yellow weather warning for gale force winds
New board members sought for abattoir
