Fines up to £5,000 for driving carelessly
Today (18 November), careless driving is the focus with police warning anyone caught can face a fine up to £5,000 and have 3-9 penalty points.
Overtaking on the inside, driving too close to another vehicle and short distractions such as eating, drinking or glancing at your phone are just some examples of how a driver can lose focus on the road.
Police say even a brief lapse in concentration can cause a serious or fatal collision.
