Boats suffer problems off coast
Lifeboat crews had a couple of incidents to deal with yesterday.
A boat and two passengers were rescued off the north of the Island last night.
The seven-metre potting vessel got into difficulty after suffering engine failure around half a mile out from Port Mooar, near Maughold.
RNLI volunteers managed to tow it back to the safety of Ramsey Harbour by 9.30pm.
Lifeboat Sea Safety Officer Dr Gordon Dickens said there was a 'happy ending' due to fair sea conditions - but called on boat owners to fit safety measures such as anchors and standby power supplies.
Meanwhile, Port St Mary crews were called to a similar incident off the village's breakwater.
The boat, which had two adults and a child aboard, was towed back around teatime.
The RNLI has reminded all seafarers to bring and wear lifejackets.
