Controversial funding proposals go to Tynwald
A local adult carer has hit back at suggestions elderly people should be made to fund their own care bills.
Tynwald will hear a series of recommendations on residential services tomorrow, including one which would see older residents have their own assets used to meet the cost.
MHK Chris Robertshaw, who led the committee making the recommendations, says it would be unfair to put the burden on other parts of society.
But speaking on Manx Radio's Talking Heads programme earlier, Ian Smith said government has a special obligation to support those in need:
