Work to rebrand a Shoprite store in Castletown into a Tesco will start this weekend.
Chair of the commissioners Jamie Horton says it's an 'exciting' change for the town and hopes it will encourage more businesses to move to the south.
Shoprite announced in October that it would be selling all nine stores, including Winerite and 'Little Shoprite' to the retail giant.

The Victoria Road Shoprite will also close later today for refurbishment, although the pharmacy will be staying open as usual during the works.
