Caine hopes new brownfield scheme could spark development
Allowing the former Castletown Golf Links Hotel to remain in ruin is ‘unforgivable’.
That's according to the chair of the Climate Change Transformation Board.
Daphne Caine has welcomed the idea of regeneration on the site saying it doesn’t provide a good welcome for visitors.
The Castletown Golf Links Hotel closed in 2007 and subsequent plans for development of it never coming to fruition.
She was quizzed by Mannin Line caller Ged who called for government to do more.
He also queried how people can take the Island's biosphere status seriously when the building has been left as it is.
In response Mrs Caine said she was hopeful a new £10 million Island Infrastructure Scheme – which aims to develop brownfield sites – could mean progress:
