RMS Leinster sinking remembered
More light is being shed on the worst maritime disaster in the Irish Sea - in terms of loss of life - ahead of its centenary on Wednesday.
The RMS Leinster, a City of Dublin Steam Packet vessel, sank on 10 October 1918, after it was torpedoed by a German U-boat.
One hundred and fifteen civilians were confirmed killed, but the loss of military personnel was downplayed at the time.
Some of the bodies washed up on Manx shores, and are buried here.
