Manx Care reviewing pathways and support for those with suspected Covid-19 vaccine injury

It follows a number of listening sessions last year

Manx Care says its reviewing its referral pathways and strengthening support for those who've been affected by a suspected Covid-19 vaccine injury.

It's after the healthcare provider carried out a number of listening sessions last year.

More than 160 engagements were recorded during the 'In Your Shoes' initiative.

Many said it wasn't always clear where to go for help, and highlighted the importance of feeling listened to and being supported with empathy.

Manx Care says it's now reviewing its referral pathways and patient information, as well as strengthening emotional and psychological support and improving staff training to support consistent and compassionate care.

Karen Maddox, Patient Experience and Involvement Lead at Manx Care, says: "We are grateful to everyone who took the time to share their experiences with us. 

"These conversations were deeply personal. Listening carefully to what people told us helps us understand where our services and communication can be improved, and how we can better support individuals navigating complex health concerns."

It's added the scheme was designed to listen to lived experience, not to assess vaccine safety, and insists evidence continues to show that Covid-19 vaccines are safe and effective.
