Alfred Cannan says government wants to hear from those who would be affected
The chief minister has confirmed there's going to be a public consultation on restrictions on social media for under 16s.
It comes after the UK announced plans to restrict platforms for younger users last week.
Alfred Cannan told the House of Keys this morning that the Isle of Man Government recognises the concerns, and is carefully considering the UK's position.
He added that any local decision would need to be evidence based.
Last week, Education Minister Daphne Caine told Manx Radio there would need to be 'big discussions' following the UK's announcement.
Mr Cannan confirmed the consultation is unlikely to take place ahead of the general election, with the UK set to introduce its legislation by the end of 2026 ahead of implementation in spring 2027.
