Care in the community is a myth.
That's the belief of a North Douglas MHK as Glenside closed its doors for the last time.
The residential home has provided a service to Island's elderly for several decades, but it was announced last February that it was to close.
Those living there have been moved elsewhere and the last staff members left yesterday.
The closure is part of a much wider policy by the social care department to offer elderly people more home-based care in future.
However Bill Henderson says it's a sad day - and closing Glenside is part of a "crazy policy"
