CoMin 'completely ignored' information from Manx Care says former minister

Hooper believes further charges for health service are being planned

The former health and social care minister has told Manx Radio the Council of Ministers ‘completely ignored’ information provided by Manx Care about the impact on service delivery if cuts were made.

Lawrie Hooper told the chief minister he was quitting his position just moments before he delivered his resignation speech in Tynwald last week.

What followed was a war-of-words between the Ramsey MHK and Chief Minister Alfred Cannan.

Mr Hooper says the pair had a ‘difficult working’ relationship and he's 'nervous' about what will happen to the health body now he's no longer in charge of the department:

In response Mr Cannan described his actions as a ‘stitch-up’ saying the former minister’s claims that he was pushing for privatisation were a ‘slur’ on CoMin:

Almost one week on Mr Hooper says he believes further charges for health services are being planned: 

Manx Radio has invited the Chief Minister Alfred Cannan to respond.
