Reverse gear after comments from public and traders
Castletown Commissioners have decided to reinstate parking in the town's market square.
From noon on Tuesday, parking will once again be permitted on the George pub side only.
A raft of proposed changes to parking restrictions in the town were explored last month, and the local authority had previously announced the whole square would be closed to parking from April to September.
Now, the public open space concept will still be in place on the Castle side and includes seating, play equipment and deckchairs.
Furthermore, the whole area will still close for planned events over the summer.
But, the Commissioners say the change has come about after listening to traders and the public.
They also accept their vision for the future of the town could have been communicated in a better fashion.
