Govt 'should lobby' CAA to extend cover
The Manx government is being urged to put pressure on the Civil Aviation Authority to get a better deal for Island passengers.
Last week’s collapse of Citywing has highlighted the need for a financial safety net for those travelling to and from the Island when a flight is cancelled.
Travellers can struggle to receive compensation as the Air Traffic Operators' Licence (ATOL) protection currently does not cover the Crown Dependencies and airlines aren't legally required to provide financial recompense.
Exceptions include flights as part of package holidays for UK residents travelling here, and direct flights from the Island to European destinations.
