MHK responds to Onchan decision
Concerns have been raised over whether local authorities should be able to opt out of shared housing waiting lists.
Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper says it'll be difficult to measure the effectiveness of the scheme if some of the biggest housing providers refuse to take part.
Onchan Commissioners, who own 508 public sector houses, have decided not to join a shared list for the east amid uncertainty about how the scheme will work.
Mr Hooper says most local authorities are 'on board' with the plan, but it can't be trialled successfully without full involvement.
He explains some residents will miss out on a greater choice of properties, and may be confused by the different systems:
