Autumn enthronement in Peel
The grandeur of York Minster will be the setting for the consecration of the Island's new bishop later today (22 June).
Archbishop of York Dr John Sentamu will conduct the ceremony, bestowing the title Bishop of Sodor and Mann on the Venerable Peter Eagles.
A large congregation is expected in the cathedral, where Sheffield's new bishop will be ordained at the same time.
Bishop-to-be Peter Eagles is due to arrive in the Island this autumn, when a date will be set for his enthronement at St German's cathedral in Peel.
Manx Radio's religious affairs correspondent Judith Ley is in York for the ceremony.
She says today's consecration is both a formal and joyous occasion:
Warning for 'disorderly' parents attending schools
Yellow weather warning for gale force winds
