A consistent and long-term approach is key to providing quality care for those with dementia, so says a government health chief.
Cath Hayhow, Director of Adult Social Care Services at the Department of Health, says having the same staff is essential to building familiarity and confidence in dementia sufferers.
Her comments follow a report by the UK Alzheimer's Society, which details cases of people with dementia being severly neglected by un-trained carers.
The 'harrowing conditions' suffered include soiled bed sheets, going without food or water and premature admission to hospitals and homes.
