The Island's breast consultant Millie Bello is appealing to older women to attend their breast screening appointments.
Women over the age of 50 are invited to a screening session every two years but there's concern the take-up rate is only 65 to 70 per cent.
The benefits of early diagnosis will be outlined by Ms Bello at a Meet the Consultant event in Douglas tonight (Monday).
She says several factors make some women reluctant to attend - and she wants to address those at the meeting, which starts at 7.30pm at Douglas Golf Club.
