Hopes to access the Island Infrastructure Scheme
The leader of Douglas City Council is urging government to let local authorities access existing infrastructure schemes to help deliver new social housing.
Currently, the Island Infrastructure Scheme is only open to private developers, many of whom have chosen to pay a 'commuted sum' rather than include 25 percent affordable housing in their projects.
Government admitted last year that no public sector homes have been built during the current administration.
