Postal workers discovered herbal cannabis at sorting office
A man and woman have admitted having cannabis sent to them through the post.
Karl Burton and Elaine Mennie of Central Promenade in Douglas appeared before Deputy High Bailiff Christopher Arrowsmith at Douglas courthouse.
They admitted a joint charge of producing herbal cannabis from the UK.
Prosecution advocate Roger Kane told the hearing on 24 April police were called by postal workers who'd discovered a suspicious package at Braddan sorting office.
When it was opened, police discovered it contained 70 grammes of the class B drug with a street value of £463.
When 44-year-old Burton tried to collect the parcel, he was arrested – and his 43-year-old partner Mennie was arrested at their home, telling officers “I know why you’re here”.
In interview, the pair admitted they'd ordered the drugs for their own personal use and smoked it because of health difficulties.
Mr Arrowsmith bailed both in the sum of £500, and they'll appear in court again for sentencing on 17 December.
