Hughes remanded in custody
A court’s heard a Ramsey man repeatedly threw his girlfriend to the ground and kicked her in the head.
Geraint Richard Darren Hughes of North Shore Road appeared via a live video link before magistrates.
He admitted criminal damage and causing actual bodily harm on 31 October.
Prosecutor Roger Kane said Hughes had been drinking with his girlfriend before returning to his home shortly after midnight.
The hearing was told 38-year-old Hughes argued with his girlfriend, and threw her to the ground at least three times, kicking her in the head and slamming her against door frames.
He’s also said to have smashed her car window – although his advocate told the court her client denied kicking her.
Magistrates said they’d have to have a special hearing of facts before they could decide whether Hughes should be sentenced by a summary court or the Court of General Gaol Delivery.
He was remanded in custody and is next due to appear in court again on 22 December.
