MLC questions suitability of legislation
Legislation governing care homes in the Isle of Man could do with being looked at, according to an MLC.
David Cretney recently visited a home which he said fell well short of the sort of standards he would expect.
He says he doesn't want to name the place for now, while he continues to work on the matter.
The 2013 Regulation of Care Act only applies to premises built after that, effectively creating a two-tier system.
Mr Cretney says it was made clear to him by the Registration and Inspection Unit that the premises he visited would not be acceptable under the newer legislation.
Speaking to Manx Radio on Wednesday afternoon, he said what he had seen was not good enough:
Takeaway proposal branded 'blight' on community by Planning Committee
Part of TT course subject to daytime road closures later this month
'There's a site sat there doing nothing': Former minister and committee chair at odds over Summerland
Manxman crossings rescheduled due to insufficient water depths
