If you’re a business thinking of using bonfire night as the chance to burn some waste – there’s a warning from the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture.
The department says it knows in the past businesses have used November 5 as an opportunity to throw waste onto fires – but says the practice is not acceptable, safe or sustainable.
It warns any firms found burning rubbish could well face criminal prosecution and substantial fines.
