Government says it wasn't notified by probation service in England
The Department of Home Affairs says it’s seeking an ‘urgent explanation’ after an individual on a ‘life licence’ moved to the Isle of Man.
It follows speculation on social media this week that a convicted child killer was living on the Island.
The Facebook page - UK Database - made the allegation which was circulated widely by Manx residents.

The DHA says it, and the Isle of Man Constabulary, would normally expect to be informed of such circumstances.
However it has confirmed that, in this case, no information was received from the relevant probation service in England.
In a statement issued today (30 October) the department said: “Once the department became aware of the individual’s presence, relevant agencies took proactive steps to assess and manage any potential risks.
“Public protection comes first, and safeguarding the community must remain the overriding priority.
“The department will be writing to HM Prison and Probation Service seeking an urgent explanation as to why the individual moved to the Isle of Man without the appropriate agencies here being notified.”
Earlier this week the Isle of Man Constabulary told Manx Radio it won’t comment on the ‘identity, whereabouts or personal circumstances’ of individuals.
Manx Radio has sought further information from the Department of Home Affairs including whether the Isle of Man Government has any powers to remove the individual from the Island.
We are awaiting a response.
